Sophrology

Why are we using sophrology with children at school?

- To allow children to discover their body in an ther way (corporal schema).
- To become more confident.
- To experiment peaceful moments and be able to concentrate and focus.
- To be able to express their feelings.

Sophrology uses two complementary tools;

The first one is called “dynamic relaxation” and is based on different body exercises in order to know better parts of the body and enjoy lots of specifics sensations given by posture associated to different techniques of breathing.  Importance is given to breathing to calm down or rejuvenate the mind.
The children “live” in their body; they’re pleased to take root in this world.

The second tool is based on visualisation and imagination. As the children are relaxed, they’re ready to listen a short story, told with a soft and monotonous voice (called terpnos logos). Those stories will induce images in order to bring children to a state of deep relaxation for example.
All these exercises and states of well being , as they’re discovered very young, will give them a lot of tools to manage stressful situations, live better in their body, develop their imagination in a positive way (we always talk about what is positive) and above all, we give the children the possibility to be consciousness of its own potential.

As a sophrologist, one of my goals is to give the autonomy to human being, all these exercises are gifts, and at a point, people don’t need me anymore, they’ve learnt how to manage different situations thanks to their “toolbox”.
