Michael Raum - English educator for the 3-6 class

I was born and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. I have also lived for a while in Cape Town and in Namibia. I have been interested in nature since early childhood and visited game and nature reserves regularly with my parents. I learned to love the outdoors and to appreciate the natural environment. In my first year of university I became particularly interested in birds and birdwatching.

I am tri-lingual, having both English and German as mother tongue, and having learned Afrikaans at school. I had French at school too but not having had much opportunity to use it, have recently done some courses to improve my French. I am a positive person and like to build-up others and encourage them. I am a peace loving person and I like people to be happy. I have a good sense of humour and like to laugh too. I enjoy teaching about nature, and about caring for the environment.

I have been interested in Montessori for many years. I have many books (over 20) covering various aspects of Montessori teaching. I am trained as a Montessori teacher and I have experience in Montessori teaching with children from 3 to 12 years old. I also have a BSc degree and am thus knowledgeable in biology, science, and geography. I enjoy working with children and teaching is a passion for me. I am continually amazed by their imagination and creativity.
Free the child’s potential, and you will transform him into the world “   -Maria Montessori
