Maeve Dempsey - English educator for the 6-12 class
Irish in origin, I had an international upbringing, experiencing life in England, U.S.A., India, Sweden and Canada. After qualifying from medical school in Dublin, my interests in education evolved from having three children of my own, and desiring for them an education that focuses not only on academics, but also their physical, psychological and emotional growth, and above all to ensure that they would love learning.
In my view, learning is not something that needs to be forced or motivated, instead it is something the child does naturally. A child learns not just from words, but by experiencing his/her environment.
I discovered Montessori ideas while homeschooling my eldest girl for a year, and this inspired me to further study for an Elementary (6-12) Montessori diploma.
